Contact the City

Contact the Department of Community Development if you are planning to make any physical modifications to your property at (562) 916-1201 to learn about required approvals and permits. Staff can provide you with information on regulations and development standards for development in the City of Cerritos, in order to ensure that your project is in compliance with the Cerritos Municipal Code.

Project Submittal and Approval

1. Submit Your Application/Plan — Upon discussion of your project with a City Planner, you will be directed to submit your project online or schedule an in-person appointment to submit directly to the Planner assigned to your project.

Please note, all applications can be submitted and processed online. For online submissions, please follow the instructions outlined in the Planning/Building Electronic Submittal Procedure and upload applications and plans through the Application/Plan Submittal Form.

Wireless Telecommunication Project/Permit Submittals — Wireless telecommunication project/permit submittals are only accepted on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In-person wireless telecommunication project/permit submittals are by appointment only, and walk-in applicants will not be accepted. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (562) 916-1201. Any in-person or online wireless telecommunication project/permit submitted after 4 p.m. on Monday, whether online or in-person, will be deemed submitted on the following Tuesday, and any application submitted on Tuesday after 4 p.m. will be deemed submitted on the following Monday (or the following Tuesday if Monday is a legal holiday).

2. Check the status of your project — To check the status of your project, contact your project Planner at (562) 916-1201.

3. Check the status of your permit — To check the status of an existing building permit or request a permit inspection, contact the Building and Safety Division at (562) 916-1209.

Building & Safety Division Applications and Guidance Documents

The Building and Safety Division requires issuance of building permits for building renovations and new construction. Permits may be obtained Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Last permit issuance is at 4:30 p.m.

Hours of Construction

Please note that all construction, demolition, and grading activities shall be limited to the following days and hours, unless otherwise approved in writing by the City of Cerritos:

Monday–Friday
7 a.m.–6 p.m.

Saturday
10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Sundays and City-observed Holidays
No construction, demolition or grading activities are permitted.

Public Review
