Commissions and Committees (Advisory Boards)

Advisory Boards, made up of individuals appointed by the City Council, provide guidance in determining how to meet the City’s needs. Cerritos currently has five commissions and two committees.

Applications Open for Service on Planning Commission and Economic Development Commission

For the Remainder of the Unexpired 2025 – 2027 Term

Cerritos residents and business owners are invited to submit their application for consideration to serve on the following Advisory Boards:

  • Planning Commission (1 seat*): Members advise the City Council on matters related to planning, transportation, and land use. Cerritos residency is required for this position.
  • Economic Development Commission (1 seat*): Members advise the City Council on the needs of existing businesses; the availability of economic development opportunities and resources; and business retention, expansion, and marketing.

Eligible, appointed individuals will serve a term through April 30, 2027.

To be considered for appointment to Cerritos Advisory Boards, an application must be submitted online or in person to the Office of the City Clerk. Though the application for service lists all Advisory Boards, vacant positions exist only on the Planning Commission and the Economic Development Commission at this time. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
