Planning Commission

The Planning Commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council. The powers, duties and responsibilities of the Planning Commission are set forth in Ordinance No. 175, and in the laws of the State of California.

The Planning Commission sits as an advisory body to the City Council in establishing policies governing the growth and development of the City. The Planning Commission is empowered to, and must, review all zoning applications and precise plans for development, conduct public hearings, and make determinations on these in the form of recommendations to the City Council. The Planning Commission conducts public hearings and makes recommendations to the City Council on matters such as adoption of the City's General Plan, changes in the City's Development Code and Development Standards, Environmental Impact Reports, Subdivision and Parcel Map applications, Conditional Use Permits, and various other types of development applications. Additionally, the Planning Commission serves as the design review board and the final review body for residential projects.

Meetings

Regular Planning Commission meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, in the City Council Chamber.
