In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the City of Cerritos is organizing an art and writing contest open to students.

Theme

"More Than a Dream"

Deadline for Entry

Wednesday, January 8, 2025, 6:30 p.m.

All completed entries should be turned in to the Cerritos Library’s Children’s Help Desk before the deadline. One entry per person per category.

Art Contest

The following information applies to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Art Contest applicants:

  • Open to students in grades K–12
  • Create an imaginative picture using paints, crayons, or any other medium
  • Artwork must be no larger than 12˝ x 18˝ and should not be mounted

Writing Contest

The following information applies to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Writing Contest applicants:

  • Open to students in grades 7–12
  • Entries, either a poem or an essay, must be original 
  • No more than 300 words
  • Preferably typed on white letter-size paper

Winners

Contest winners will be recognized at the City’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day ceremony on Monday, January 20, 2025.
