Interested in becoming a Wildlife Watch Volunteer?
Some Cerritos residents have expressed concerns over sightings of coyotes in the City. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has developed a program called "Wildlife Watch" that teaches residents how to minimize urban wildlife conflicts and take ownership of human-wildlife conflicts in their own neighborhoods.
A 3-day training course sponsored by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the City of Cerritos, will be scheduled as soon as five to 10 volunteers have registered to participate in the program. Volunteers will be provided with essential information about coyote behavior and given the skills and tools necessary to facilitate and educate neighborhoods on safe coyote-human interactions.
Residents interested in becoming a Wildlife Watch Volunteer should contact the Community Safety Division at (562) 916-1266.
