The City of Cerritos offers special celebrations and commemorations throughout the year that have become cherished traditions for local families.

Cerritos Certified Farmers Market

Farm-fresh produce is offered for sale every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Cerritos Farmers Market. The market is held at the Cerritos Towne Center in the northwest parking lot of the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.

Shoppers will find fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, fish, bread, nuts, honey and flowers.

Free parking for the market is available in the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts parking lot. The Cerritos Farmers Market is held rain or shine throughout the year. The market is closed on major holidays.

Please leave your pets at home as dogs and other animals are not allowed in the farmers market.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration

The City of Cerritos honors the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. with an annual celebration held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The celebration includes remarks by the Cerritos City Council and community involvement through songs and comments. As part of the commemoration, the Cerritos Library sponsors art and writing contests for students with a theme related to Dr. King’s legacy.

Festival of Friendship

The City of Cerritos and the Let Freedom Ring Committee, in conjunction with Los Cerritos Center, invites the community to attend the annual Festival of Friendship. The festival, held annually on the first Saturday of February, provides a unique opportunity to learn about the City’s rich cultural diversity through a variety of acts performed on stages throughout the mall. 

Spring Fling Celebrating the City's Anniversary

In honor of the City’s anniversary, the City of Cerritos hosts a one-day festival in April featuring entertainment, food trucks, game booths, crafts and a fireworks show. Entertainment showcases local talent and professional acts on the main stage. Gourmet food trucks provide an assortment of specialty menu items for purchase. 

Memorial Day Ceremony

The City of Cerritos invites the community to attend a Memorial Day Ceremony annually on Memorial Day. The ceremony is held near the Cerritos Veterans Memorial in the Cerritos Civic Center. The event honors members of the United States Armed Forces who have given the ultimate sacrifice while defending our nation’s freedom. The ceremony includes a presentation of colors, comments by the City Council, laying of wreaths and a moment of silence.

Let Freedom Ring Celebration (Independence Day)

Join the City of Cerritos and the Let Freedom Ring Committee at the annual Let Freedom Ring Celebration held every Independence Day. The Fourth of July celebration is held at the Cerritos Civic Center and includes rides, gourmet food trucks, entertainment and a bell-ringing ceremony. The evening culminates with a fireworks show. Bring chairs and blankets for seating in designated areas.

Cerritos Air Disaster Remembrance

Every year on August 31, the anniversary of the Cerritos Air Disaster, the City of Cerritos holds a gathering at the Cerritos Air Disaster Memorial in the Cerritos Sculpture Garden to remembers the victims, survivors, family and friends affected by the tragedy.

Autumn Moon Festival

Celebrate the harvest moon and attend the annual Autumn Moon Festival. This family-friendly one-day event includes lantern decorating and food trucks. Lantern kits are free and will be available while supplies last. 

Halloween Festival

Come to the annual Cerritos Halloween Festival. Costume parades, rides, entertainment and game booths will be available for participants of all ages. Gourmet food trucks will also be on hand to provide an assortment of specialty items for purchase.

Veterans Day

The community is invited to the City of Cerritos Veterans Day Ceremony held annually on November 11 near the Cerritos Veterans Memorial in the Cerritos Civic Center. The program begins at 9:45 a.m. with prelude music and the ceremony is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. The event is held in honor of those who have defended our nation’s freedom by serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The City of Cerritos holds an annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Cerritos Civic Center. The evening features holiday music, entertainment, crafts and fun for all ages. The Cerritos City Council leads a countdown to the lighting of the City’s Christmas tree. Santa is available for visits following the lighting. Remember to bring a camera.

Santa’s Holiday Float

Santa Claus is coming to Cerritos! Santa’s Holiday Float travels through Cerritos neighborhoods spreading holiday cheer over the course of two weeks in early December. Track Santa’s location each evening through a link on the City of Cerritos website. Please maintain a safe distance from Santa’s Float while it travels through your neighborhood. In the event of rain, the float will be canceled for that evening and the route will be rescheduled to another night.

Santa’s Holiday Island

Families are invited to enjoy some holiday cheer by visiting Santa Claus at the Heritage Park Play Island!  Families will enjoy crafts, music, games and more. Children, ages 2 to 11, who visit all program areas on the Island will receive a special commemorative gift while supplies last.
